Workshops and College Coaching

The NHEF, in partnership with the English and Guidance Departments at North Hunterdon High School, offers workshops and tools to successfully navigate the college admissions process.  NHEF College Bound Summer Workshops are held through July and August. Workshops and college coaching are subsidized by the NHEF.

 

Free Workshops

Navigating the College Process: A Road Map
Guidance Counselor,  David Raupp, will provide parents and students with a road map of what you should be doing and when for the college application process. (For Parents & Students) June 22 (Virtual) or August 17 @ 7-8:30PM

SCOIR Workshop: Demonstration and Hands-on Learning
In this hands-on workshop, Guidance Counselor, David Raupp, will show the college search and career tools in SCOIR, the new college exploration and search tool for North students and families. (For Parents & Students)
June 24 (Virtual) or August 19 @ 7-8:30PM

Application 101: Get your College Application Done.  Navigating both the Common and Coalition Applications
A hands-on workshop that will guide students through filling out the Common Application or Coalition Application.  Must have a computer with you and an account set up in the Common or Coalition Applications. (For Rising Seniors)
June 22 (Virtual), June 24 (Virtual), August 10, August 12, August 17 or August 19 – Sessions offered 4-6:00PM

Admission Case Studies: Become Part of an Admissions Committee for the Night
Using case studies, you will become an admissions committee for the night. This exercise will show you what Admissions Offices look for from applicants, as well as the types of institutional requests and needs that might influence their decisions. (For Parents & Students)
June 23 (Virtual) or August 18 @ 7-8:30PM

 

College Coaching

Sign up for a one-hour long individual coaching session with an experienced college coach.  A coach provides personalized counsel, strategies and planning to effectively navigate the college admissions process.  While there is a nominal fee associated with this offering, the majority of the college coach’s fee is being funded by the NHEF. Fee is $50 for the 1 hour session.  Coaching will consist of three components:

  • Introductory emails/calls to identify and align areas of focus
  • A one-hour in-person meeting
  • A written summary at the completion of the engagement

Free College Financial Planning Event
