College Bound: Coaching & Free Workshops

Coaching, Free Summer Virutal Workshops and Tools to Successfully Navigate the College Admissions Process

The NHEF (in partnership with the English and Guidance Departments at North Hunterdon HS), present NHEF College Bound Summer Workshops. Sessions are held through July and August. Workshops and college coaching are subsidized by the NHEF.

Individual College Coaching (For Students):

Ongoing virtual appointments available throughout July and August.

One-hour long individual coaching session with an experienced college coach will be made available. A coach provides personalized counsel, strategies and planning to effectively navigate the college admissions process. While there is a nominal fee associated with this offering, the majority of the college coach’s fee is being underwritten by the NHEF. The coaching will consist of three components:

  • Introductory emails/calls to identify and align areas of focus
  • A one-hour virtual meeting
  • A written summary at the completion of the engagement [Cost: $50]

Free Workshops (For Students and Parents):

Navigating the College Process: A Road Map (7:00 – 8:30pm)  Tuesday, June 16 or Tuesday, August 1 (Parents and Students) Guidance Counselor,  David Raupp, will provide parents and students with a road map of what you should be doing and when for the college application process.

Naviance Workshop: Demonstration and Hands-on Learning  (7:00 – 8:30 pm)  (Parents and Students )Thursday, June 18 or Thursday,  August 20   In this hands-on workshop, Guidance Counselor, David Raupp, will show the college search and career tools in Naviance that are available to you and your student.  In advance of the workshop please watch the videos on the Guidance website detailing Naviance.

Application 101: Get your College Application Done. Navigating both the Common and Coalition Applications  (3:00 – 5:00 pm)  (Students Only – rising SeniorsChose one of the dates:  Monday June 15, Wednesday, June 17, Monday, August 17,  Wednesday, August 19  A hands-on workshop that will guide students through filling out the Common Application or Coalition Application.  Must have a computer with you and an account set up in the Common or Coalition Applications.

You Make the Decision: Become part of an admissions committee for         the night  (7:00 – 8:30 pm) (Parents and Students)  Wednesday, June 17 or Wednesday, August 19   Using case studies, you will become an admissions committee for the night. This exercise will show you what Admissions Offices look for from applicants, as well as the types of institutional requests and needs that might influence their decisions.
