Pogil Training for the Science Department Staff – 2015

Project Objective

POGIL Training

In spring 2016, after completion of the next year’s budget, funding was requested to conduct professional development in Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) for the science department.  NHEF funding of the trainer and materials supported teachers’ ability to immediate implement with students in the 2016-2017 school year.  POGIL is a classroom and laboratory technique that seeks to simultaneously teach content and key process skills such as the ability to think analytically and work effectively as a collaborative team.  Originated in college chemistry departments, POGIL is a student-centered strategy; students work in small groups with individual roles to ensure that everyone is fully engaged in the learning process.
