Battle of the Books 2/2017
Project Objective or Need
Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading-motivation program for students in grades 3-12. The program encourages reading for pleasure, broadens reading interests, and recognizes students who enjoy reading. Without funding the students would not be able to participate in the competition.
Solution
Participating in Battle of the Books will provide an opportunity for NHHS students to join a community of readers both at NHHS and at other NJ high schools. It will foster enthusiasm and appreciation of reading, along with increasing speaking and listening skills. It also encourages analysis, interpretation and understanding the texts. In addition the media center will be increased by nine titles with six copies of each.
